Best of 2023: Top beauty picks from Antonia Scott Wideman
A new year with new discoveries is on the horizon — but there are some tried and true classics we’re bringing with us. Antonia Scott Wideman, South Carolina-based licensed esthetician and makeup artist, and owner of Antonia Scott Beauty, is back to give us her top four beauty picks from 2023:
JVN Air Dry Cream
This is easily my #1 product of 2023. Earlier this year, I set out on a mission to embrace my natural hair texture. I naturally have thick, curly hair that frizzes easily. Most products either don’t provide enough hold, or they leave my hair stiff and crunchy. I have heard great things about the JVN line of products and impulsively picked up a travel size of the Air Dry Cream one day while standing in line at Sephora. By the following week I was back for the full size. This product answered every hair prayer I had.
The Air Dry Cream is a lightweight, leave in that is meant to enhance your unique natural texture. From tight curls to loose beachy waves, it’s your hair- just better. Just add into damp hair and allow to air dry. That’s it!
I have recommended this product to so many friends and family members and they all love it!
Jessup Makeup Brushes
As a makeup artist, makeup brushes are such a valuable tool. A friend recommended Jessup brushes to me earlier this year and I’ve been hooked ever since. They are very affordable (price breaks down to less than $2 per brush) and the quality beats some of my high-end brushes. These brushes can also take a beating — as a pro-makeup artist, I wash my brushes after every single client and none of my Jessup brushes have fallen apart or started shedding. They are 10/10!
Bare Minerals Matte Complexion Rescue
I love the ease of tinted moisturizer, but I find they tend to not last well. By mid day, I look like there is nothing on (even with the best primers and setting sprays) I almost gave up on tinted moisturizer until I tried Bare Minerals Matte Complexion Rescue. It easily lasts 10+ hours on my skin without looking greasy. Apply with a brush, sponge or even your fingers for a quick and easy look.
Innisfree Pore Clearing Mask
I was devastated when one of my favorite masks was discontinued and searched high and low for a replacement. I discovered this Innisfree mask and I may just like it better than my original go-to. This treatment gives the “just left the spa” feeling of squeaky clean skin for only $15. It works best for a deep clean, it contains Volcanic Clusters that draw out excess sebum as well as lactic acid which exfoliates dead skin.
