Making skincare social with Brooke Gellici, owner of The SkinHouse

When we talk about skincare we usually focus on results and what the product can do for us. While that is important, there are so many elements to skincare and we can also make it fun.

Meet Brooke Gellici, a Licensed Esthetician of 10 years, owner of two spas, The Beautique Skin Co. and her latest concept The SkinHouse in Columbia, SC, and proud mama of three beautiful babes.

"While The Beautique started out in 2017 as my solo baby, my husband, Paul, has been an integral part of our growth and ultimately the main driver of our expansion with The SkinHouse," says Brooke. "I'm a bit of a creative, and love all things art, design, and skincare, and he's the business mind, and also is the one who builds out all of our spaces."

The duo deeply strives for everyone to feel like they are at home and in a vacation all at once, while still offering the most sought after and innovative  products and modalities from around the world.

"Our niche for medical grade results within the confines of dreamy spaces is what I think sets our spas and services apart from others."

The SkinHouse allows guests to have a social, bar-like experience while receiving quality treatment. With the spa's open concept and DIY bar featuring their Skintenders™️, it makes for a fun girls day or quick facial treatment.

When she's not in mom, esthetician, or small business owner mode, she loves painting and sketching, reading a good book, traveling, and most importantly hanging out with friends and family.

Keep reading as we chat through Brooke's latest concept, and how she's bringing social skincare to Columbia with The SkinHouse.

Q. What was the inspiration behind The SkinHouse?

A. The inspiration for The SkinHouse was cultivated by an idea that Paul and I have had for some time, which centered around introducing a new concept of social skincare.

During a lunch outside in Five Points, we admired the revitalization, interactions, and overall energy in the streets. We knew this was where The SkinHouse needed to be and rest is history!

Q. How does the social aspect make skincare more fun?

A. Skincare in general has sparked the interest of many consumers in the past five years. Whether it’s via social media channels or in-person, it’s safe to say — it has become a widespread topic of discussion with the overall industry predicted to double in the next 10 years.

We sought to not only engage our existing and prospective clients in a traditional spa atmosphere, but redefine the spa environment by promoting clients to bring a friend or even ten and share a drink, laughs, and a passion to not only receive results-driven services, but learn the products and techniques from our experienced Skintenders™️.

Skincare doesn’t have to be an individual experience or remote, we believe it can be interactive, educational, and simply put, a fun experience! We promote conversation, music, selfies, and laughs — you won’t find that in your traditional spas.

Q. What should someone expect during their first visit?

A. An inclusive environment, warm greeting with a cold drink, and a knowledgeable Skintender™️ who will guide you through our menu and your specific service. Our goal is that each client leaves with great results, a deeper knowledge of skincare and their individual skin needs, and an experience.

Spend your next girls day with a DIY (Dew it Yourself) skincare flight or self-care date with a Signature Facial at The SkinHouse.
