How to test your hormone health using Muse

Statistics show that 80% of women live with hormonal imbalance. With more women taking hormone health into account, there are ways to see hormonal levels and get help making any needed changes — all without leaving your home.

Muse was founded by Malak and Kenza and the creation was inspired by personal experience: Kenza has PCOS and endometriosis.

"It took her so long to understand what was going on in her body, she spent years in the dark, running around to different doctors with no answers," says Malak. "We decided to empower women to take control of their hormonal health by giving them the data they need."

Keep reading to learn how Muse works and how you can save on your at-home test.

Q. How does Muse differ from traditional hormone health services?

A. Muse is unique in the market, because we offer hormone testing from the comfort of your home, and take a root-cause approach in our treatment plans leveraging the pillars of functional medicine.

Additionally, data tracking is at the heart of what we do. We offer long-term data tracking through your testing, so you can see how your hormone levels evolve as you try different interventions.

Q. Can you walk us through the process of testing with Muse?

A. We start off by customizing the hormonal test kit based on whether you're using birth control and whether your cycles are regular. We ship the test kit which arrives in two-three days, and at that point we let you know when to take the test for the most reliable results.

The test kit is a blood prick, and if you are not on birth control it also includes a saliva test. You simply drop the kit in the prepaid package at the post office. At that point, it takes 10 business days for the customer to get the results. The results combine the blood panel results with your symptoms and an interpretation from our functional practitioner.

We break down your blood work into three benchmarks:

  • Optimal

  • Not Optimal

  • Out of Range

Our practitioner runs you through the results during a 1:1 consultation where you can ask any questions you have.

Q. What happens after you get your results?

A. After you get your results, we offer 12-week personalized treatment plans. Your treatment plan is personalized depending on your objectives, your bloodwork, and your symptoms! The plan leverages the pillars of functional medicine including nutrition, supplementation and other lifestyle interventions.
