Here’s how Act + Acre’s new Showerhead Filter helps strengthen and hydrate hair

Act + Acre, a brand specializing in scalp care and hair wellness, just released their new Showerhead Filter ($120). The universal showerhead works to filter hard water, heavy metals, chlorine, and other contaminants to improve scalp health, hair strength, and shine.

The filter features the following to save your hair from hard water’s contaminants:

  • KDF 55: Filters chlorine, bacteria, and algae that cause scalp irritation

  • Calcium Sulfite: Filters chlorine and chloramines that cause dryness and inflammation

  • Coconut Activated Carbon: Filters chlorine and chemicals that cause unwanted odor in water

Through her trichologist training, founder Helen Reavey learned about the negative effects hard water, chlorine, and contaminants can have on the scalp and hair.

“Hard water typically contains calcium, magnesium, and other chemicals that can build up causing dryness and irritation on the scalp, and dullness and brittleness on the hair — and we wanted to create a solution that worked to remove these from your water,” says Reavey.

The filter was strategically designed to remove both physical and chemical debris from shower water, without compromising shower pressure.

“We worked with the latest filter technology to find a system that removes both physical and chemical impurities from your shower water.”

The filter works for all scalp and hair types, and it’s a great addition for those experiencing dryness, lack of volume or shine, scalp sensitivity, and more.

How to Use

Remove your existing shower head using the wrench inside the box. Wrap the plumber's tape around the threaded area of the shower pipe twice. Install water flow restrictor to the Showerhead Filter and use the wrench to fully tighten to ensure a proper seal. Flush the showerhead for 1-2 minutes before initial use. Filters should be replaced every three months.
