Astrology and skincare featuring Pink Moon

We know that Astrology plays a part in some of our behavior, but it also plays a role in skincare. Meet Lin Chen, CEO and founder of Pink Moon, a brand inspired by her heritage, ancient holistic rituals, and her self-love journey.

"I built the brand following a series of toxic codependent relationships that took a toll on my physical, mental and emotional health," says Lin. "Pink Moon was truly born from a long journey of self discovery and rediscovery."

After experiencing insomnia, depression, and other health issues, she started embracing her ancestral roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and incorporated other ancient eastern holistic modalities like Reiki, Aromatherapy, Crystals, and Astrology into my daily rituals.

"These practices and tools were transformative for my healing. They also guided me back to a place of self-love and acceptance, empowerment, and joy, and taught me that genuine well-being encompasses every facet of the human experience."

She puts her heart and soul into Pink Moon, calling the brand  "a love letter to my heritage."

How astrology ties into self-care — specifically skincare

Astrology can be a part of your daily self-care rituals beyond horoscopes. Astrology has been ingrained in my life practically since birth — I was introduced to astrology at a very young age from my mother who took me to an astrologer at just one day old.

Since then I’ve often looked to the stars for mental, emotional, and spiritual support and for comfort, clarity and guidance throughout my life. So, it felt natural to blend astrology with skincare rituals and share the same joy and comfort that I found in astrology with our community at Pink Moon.

Our line offers three-step rituals (cleanser, essence, and moisturizer) that are dedicated to the four astrological elements (Fire, Earth, Air, and Water) and the 12 star signs. Each element has its own purpose to energize, restore, brighten, or hydrate skin.

How the elements align with skincare needs

Everyone knows what their zodiac sign is and I wanted to create an inclusive, pro-aging, gender equal, and fun-to-use skincare collection that helps people connect with themselves, others and with nature on a deeper level while also bringing positivity, comfort and self-love into their daily life.

All 12 formulas feature unique ingredients based on each astrological element – fire, air, earth, and water.

Fire collection energizes tired skin, air focuses on brightening, earth is strengthening and versatile, and water is ultra hydrating. People can choose based on the element they want more in their life (or their skin) and based on what element their sun or rising sign falls under. Most of our customers have selected the element collection based on their sun sign and have been happy with their selection for their skin!

Pink Moon product recommendations

Most of our customers have selected the element collection based on their sun sign and have been happy with their selection for their skin. I personally have earth and fire signs in my birth chart (Virgo sun and rising + Sag moon), and I primarily use the earth and fire element collections. But you can also select based on the season (i.e. earth is fantastic for winter and spring, air for fall, fire for summer, and water for spring and summer) — this concept is based on the elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
