The benefits, reasons for, and how-to take a spiritual bath

In need of a relaxing spiritual refresh? A spiritual bath may do the trick.

"A spiritual bath is a ritualistic practice in various spiritual and cultural traditions where an individual bathes with the intention of cleansing or purifying their body, mind, and spirit," says Akua Divine, Priestess of the Divine and owner of Avatar Essentials in Columbia, SC.

Akua tells us more, and walks us through the different kinds of baths and their purposes.

The breakdown of the spiritual bath

Typically, a spiritual bath involves using water infused with various herbs, flowers, oils, or other substances that have spiritual and healing properties.

The bath is often taken with specific prayers, affirmations, or intentions in mind like, aiming to remove negative energy, bring about positive changes, or connect with a higher power or spiritual realm.

Signs you should consider taking a spiritual bath

 * Spiritual blockages

* Emotional healing

 * Protection

 * Seeking clarity or insight

 * Cleansing before rituals or ceremonies

Setting up and enhancing the experience

 * Set an intention: Before starting your bath, clarify your intention. Think about what you hope to achieve or release during the bath, then focus your thoughts to amplify the bath's spiritual benefits.

* Choose the right ingredients: Select herbs, oils, crystals, or other items that resonate with your intention. For example, lavender for relaxation or rose quartz for love.

* Cleanse and purify: Begin with a physical cleansing by showering or bathing as you normally would. This symbolizes the removal of negative energies.

* Prepare the bath: Add your chosen spiritual ingredients to the bathwater. You can use essential oils, Epsom salts, or herbs. Ensure that the water temperature is comfortable for you.

* Create a sacred space: Light candles, play soothing music, or use incense to set a calming ambiance in your bathroom. This helps create a sacred and tranquil environment.

* Meditation or prayer: Spend time in meditation or prayer while in the bath. Reflect on your intention and visualize the desired outcome.

* Mindfulness: Focus on the sensations of the bath like how the water feels on your skin, the scents, and the sounds. This can deepen your connection to the experience.

* Affirmations: Repeating positive affirmations related to your intention can be powerful during your bath.

* Energy visualization: Imagine negative energy leaving your body and being replaced with positive, healing energy as you soak in the bath.

* Journaling: Keep a journal nearby to jot down any insights, emotions, or messages that come to you during the bath.

* Gratitude: Express gratitude for the opportunity to take this spiritual bath and for any healing or insights received.

* Closing ritual: When you're ready to leave the bath, visualize any remaining negative energy being washed away. Drain the water and say a closing prayer or affirmation. Air dry once you're out of the tub. Get dressed in white or light colors. Journal or meditate as you wind down your evening. Then pay attention to your dreams.

How you should expect to feel afterward

The way someone feels after a spiritual bath can vary widely depending on their personal beliefs and intentions. Generally, people often feel relaxed, refreshed, and spiritually cleansed afterward. They may also experience a sense of peace, clarity, or heightened spiritual awareness.

Spiritual bath recommendation

The bath that I recommend to people who have never taken a spiritual bath before, those who aren't feeling like themselves, and even those who have gone through traumatic experiences, is my Evil Eye Cleansing/Protection Bath.

This particular bath was created to cleanse and purify your energetic body from negative energy,  and clear evil eye energy which is jealousy coming from other people. Follow the directions from the previous question to full immerse yourself in a transformative spiritual experience.
