The story behind Humble
Our humble beginnings started in our founder’s kitchen. After lots of trial and error, Jeff created what is now our bestselling, aluminum-free Original Formula deodorant.

Four ingredients to avoid when choosing a deodorant and why
* Aluminum: It's common in antiperspirants. It works by clogging sweat ducts to temporarily stop sweat flow. Going aluminum-free means letting your body natural processes happen uninhibited.
* Parabens: These are a preservative and one of the most common ingredients in cosmetic products. Like aluminum, parabens get absorbed by your skin and impersonate estrogen.
* Phthalates: Phthalates are plasticizers often found in beauty care products. Emerging research shows exposure to phthalates has adverse effects on animal reproductive systems and would likely affect humans in the same way.
* Propylene Glycol: This chemical is a skin conditioning agent that is considered to be generally safe, but is a known skin irritant.
Ingredient swaps that work just as well — if not better
* Plant-based natural fragrance made from essential oils and botanical extracts as an ingredient swap for synthetic fragrances. Many synthetic fragrances are made from petroleum byproducts, and some can contain ingredients such as phthalates, or use parabens for preservatives. Plant-based fragrances give a more subtle, plant-like scent, and can have natural aromatherapy benefits while skipping potential endocrine disruptors and artificial ingredients.
* Gentle, odor-fighting magnesium hydroxide as an alternative to common conventional deodorant ingredients such as aluminum and propylene glycol. Also a great alternative to baking soda and other ingredients that could be potentially irritating to some individuals.
* Candelilla wax as a swap for beeswax if you live a vegan lifestyle and avoid beeswax in your products. This plant-based wax helps to solidify skincare formulas, and acts as an emollient and skin conditioner, like beeswax.
